TIOMAN

The best scuba diving sites in West Malaysia, excellent jungle trekking, good resorts, duty free alcohol, and a cluster of beautiful islands that are surrounding it are what make idyllic Tioman island such a popular gateway.

Tioman Island is a small island (39km long and 12km wide) and comprises eight villages, linked by bumpy roads. It is increasingly becoming one of the more popular destinations amongst tourists – foreign and local. Indeed, on Tioman Island you will be amazed by its natural beauty which till today, remains relatively untouched.

As with Langkawi, Tioman is principally a dream destination for a beach holiday. You will however, also find crystal clear waters, world-class scuba diving, spas, an 18-hole golf course, a marina for yachting, jungle trekking, and 4-wheel drive adventures in impressive mountainous setting.

Tioman Highlights

Here are some of the best features of Langkawi:

Diving/ Snorkeling

There are some really good diving and snorkeling spots in Tioman. As the waters are crystal clear and so inviting, one is always tempted to just go and rent a mask and snorkel to enjoy the colorful fishes and feed them. The marine life is found in abundance and the coral reefs are quite beautiful. The best snorkeling spots need to be reached by boat so do not forget to plan an unforgettable day trip to the nearby islands such as Tulai Island (Coral Island), Renggis Island.

Tioman and its surroundings are also very popular for diving and with deep waters surrounding the island with superb marine life, sea horses, butterfly fish, and angelfish. There are many dive operators on the island that organize a variety of dive activities around Tioman and islands such as Chebeh Island, Fan Canyon, Aur Island.

Jungle Trekking

The most famous trail in Tioman is the one that takes you from Tekek village to Juara village, across the rainforest and right through the middle of the island. It is an easy trail during which you will have the chance to see a lot of monkeys, lizards and other interesting wildlife. Along the way, refresh yourself in the waterfalls or try your hand at bird watching!

Tioman has a new marina, at Teluk Tekek, that offers berths for yachts up to 35m in length, with water and electricity.
