PANGKOR LAUT & LUMUT

Pangkor Laut is one of Malaysia’s most famous hotels, perfect for spa-lovers and for romantic getaways, it has the great advantage of being built on a privately owned island of 300 acres, much of which is still dense tropical forest.

Pangkor Laut is a little gem reserved for the customers of the sole resort available there, the Pangkor Laut Resort. Actually, only a small part of the island has been developed for the resort. The rest of the island is pure and untouched, and so Pangkor Laut can pride itself to assemble all the elements that make it a true paradise.

The beach, the Emerald Bay, is known to be one of the most beautiful in Malaysia. The lush and magnificent rainforest behind the hotel will add to this impression.

Services and facilities include: swimming pools (amongst them one perimeter overflow pool), spa, tennis and squash court, gymnasium, library, and many more. Every detail counts: the furniture is stunning, there is vegetation everywhere, and the service provided is beyond reproach.

You have a large choice of food, from gourmet cuisine with fish and seafood to more laid back western dishes. In total, there are four restaurants available.

You can choose between four types of villas: Garden villa, Hill view villa, Water villa, Spa villa with the only difference being the actual location on the island telling them apart. There is also a Pavarotti Suite, as the famous tenor was a loyal client of the resort.

The last kind of accommodation implemented was the Spa Village, with its Spa villas. There are 22 villas and they all are on stilts. Everything is done for a perfect serenity as there are eight treatment pavilions with the same and unique purpose: make you feel good. You will find all kind of massage: Chinese, Ayurvedic, Balinese, Thai. There are also specific baths, and special wraps (With papaya for instance). As with all spa treatments, speak with the available spa consultant before choosing your spa treatment. This way you will learn about the various treatments available. Pangkor Highlights

Here are some of the best features of Pangkor

Emerald Bay

Emerald Bay takes its name after the color of the water in this cool and inviting bay, which is emerald green. The 600 meters long stretch of pure white sand is located in a cove surrounded by the lush rainforest and most of the time is virtually empty, which renders it even more outstanding. There is a bar and restaurant on the beach, ideal for a drink during sunset. It is easy to go to the Emerald Bay. It is about 15 minutes on foot, from the Pangkor Laut resort or otherwise you can take the shuttle provided by the resort.

Jungle Trek

There are three trails that you can do on Pangkor Laut. They are free of charge and a guide from the Pangkor Laut Resort will accompany you in the rainforest.

Lumut

Lumut is located on the mainland opposite Pangkor Laut and Pangkor Island, and is the gateway for Pangkor Island and Pangkor Laut. Once a fishing town, Lumut now caters for the tourists that go to Pangkor Island. The coastal town is home to the most important base of the National Navy of the country. Even though foreigners cannot visit it, you can see it from the ferry point. Lumut is also home to the Lumut International Yacht Club, where yachtsmen can find anchorage and facilities for their boats.

There are numerous local shops, souvenirs stalls, hotels and restaurants in Lumut. The waterfront is quite popular, such as the small market opposite the ferry building. It is a popular spot amongst locals who love to go there on their lazy Sunday afternoons and have an ice cream.

Besides that, you can enjoy other attractions. If you like hiking, there is a reasonable jungle trek, which last not more than 2hours to do at the very entry of the town.

Also, a popular attraction in Lumut is the Mangrove Park. Indeed, along the coast there are large parts of mangrove trees, and a park named Taman Paya Bakau. In there you will get the chance to discover, admire, and learn more about the beauty of mangroves and the wildlife belonging to them.

Ferries from Lumut to the islands are good and frequent (every 30minutes), and it takes 40 minutes to reach Pangkor Island, and one hour to reach Pangkor Laut.
