Rainforest & Trekking in Malaysia

Malaysia is home to some of the world’s oldest rainforests and they certainly are a treasure trove to nature lovers. With the world’s oldest rainforests, dating back more than 130 million years, the biological richness and diversity of Malaysia’s rainforests are unequaled by that of the African or Amazon rainforests.

The Malaysian rainforests are dominated by the Dipterocarp family of trees. These majestic trees can reach up to heights of 120feet and are very often home to epiphytic orchids, ferns and vines. The rainforest is an important element in Mother Nature’s chain and within the rainforest ecosystem there are several mutualistic relationships. It is interesting to note that not all trees flower simultaneously in our rainforests thus resulting in varying fruiting seasons. It is also because of this reason that all year round you will be able to spot different types of wildlife in the rainforest.
